Troop positions are required for advancement. To maintain their position, each scout can have no more than 3 unexcused absences in a 6-month period.

If a scout is going to miss a scout meeting he needs to let the senior patrol leader or scoutmaster know. No reason is needed except that he can’t make it. Failure to do this will automatically remove him from his position.

• Why are we doing this?

• Scouts teach skills for life. If they have a job and don’t show up, they won’t have employment for long. Scouting is trying to prepare them for the working world.
